Energy-Saving Technology
Historical overview
The ‘60s – Stabilizers
Around the ’60 of last century, stabilizing devices came to the market to improve the sometimes poor power quality of the electrical networks and protect machines against it. These devices had also a positive effect on the consumption of energy but they have a high self-consumption therefore the efficiency effect is limited
The ‘70s – Utilities’ Voltage Optimization
During the oil crisis of the ‘70, the American utility companies had to find a way to reduce the energy consumption due to their limited capacity of energy production. They reduced the Voltage level, achieving a reduction in electrical consumption
The ‘90s – First-generation Voltage Optimizers
Single Tap Voltage Optimizer came to the market, with limited saving capacity due to the lack of flexibility to the actual grid conditions
‘00 – Harmonic filters
Harmonic filters focus on filtering out the potentially harmful harmonic component, caused by electronic devices. As a by-product, harmonic filters may have a mild saving effect. However as these machines are very large and expensive, they are only suited for industrial usage where harmonics are the biggest problem
2015 – ICOPOWER Next-Generation Technology
After extended research and field-based experiences, Icopower came up with an innovative solution combining existing technologies in a smart way: Multiple taps automatic Voltage Optimizers, with very high efficiency (>99,5%)
